C.J. Reavis has found plenty of college interest at Eastern Mississippi after being dismissed from Virginia Tech. Per his twitter account, a “monster” has been created, and he’s been playing like one. Reavis has 23 tackles, six pass break-ups and two interceptions, one that went for a touchdown. First to offer Reavis was West Virginia University, and last Wednesday, the Iowa State Cyclones extended an offer. The former Thomas Dale standout figures to continue to attract attention from more major programs before committing a third time.

L.C. Bird linebacker Isaiah Moore (6-2, 210) has picked up his first offer from Old Dominion University. The junior made varsity as a sophomore and earned a starting position, improving as the season went along, stepping up big in the postseason, especially against Salem (Virginia Beach) in the state semi-finals. This season, Moore has 33 tackles, five for a loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, three recovered fumbles, two interceptions, a pass deflection and a blocked kick. This should be the first of several offers to come for Moore.
Speaking of offers, former Matoaca wideout and current Trinity Episcopal receiver Trevion Armstrong announced his college commitment at Trinity’s homecoming game last Friday. He’ll be playing his college football at the University of Nevada, the Wolfpack. Armstrong transferred along with quarterback Blake Bowen after the 2013 season. He fielded many offers, but chose Nevada out of a final four that included Pittsburgh, Illinois and Toledo.
Justin Harper, a product of Meadowbrook High and the University of Richmond is currently playing with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets pre-season. Brooklyn signed Harper on September 18, following a rock-solid season with Felice Scandone in Italy’s Series A league. On October 8, Harper scored 11 points and grabbed three rebounds against the Philadelphia 76ers. From here, Harper could make Brooklyn, go to the NBA Development League, or opt to play overseas again. Harper appeared in 14 games for the Orlando Magic in the 2011-2012 season.
The 2015 Virginia State 4-H Championship Horse and Pony Show was held Sept. 10-13 in Lexington’s Virginia Horse Center. This statewide horse show hosts more than 700 youth from across the state, who compete in a wide variety of contests, as well as the State Championship Horse and Pony Show. The show is in its 54th year and draws more than 2,000 youth, parents and volunteers from across the state. Thomas Dale 28, Dinwiddie 13 The Knights’ defense rose to the occasion, defeating the Generals 28-13 on Saturday afternoon at Ed Karpus field. Thomas Dale jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Dinwiddie punter Joseph Tyree’s knee touched the ground on a kick. Matt Lawton ran a QB sneak to give the Knights a lead. Dinwiddie answered, with a six-yard run by Tye Freeland to tie the score at 7-7.
