Residential sales market shows strongest second quarter since 2008 recession. The Virginia residential real estate market experienced its strongest second quarter since the 2008 recession, with sales volume reaching nearly $10.6 billion during the April through June time frame. This sales volume represents an 11 percent increase relative to the second quarter of 2014 ($9.5 billion), according to the Second Quarter 2015 Home Sales Report released by Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR). The dollar value of the volume increase is due primarily to an increased number of units sold for the comparable time periods (2014-Q2 to 2015-Q2), since the median…

Even in Connecticut we didn’t have one.” Chester’s Market is in its sixth year. Being one of the first in Chesterfield, it has become a place where longtime vendors have created a long list of regular customers. In the movie “Big,” Tom Hank’s character, during a meeting at a toy company where he worked, says, “I don’t get it,” about a proposed toy that does not make sense for kids. While we, as a county, are working to promote ourselves as either a sports tourism or even historic tourism location, how can we leave the entrances to the county not very well-marked, welcoming people into the county or allowing them to be such a mess in some cases. I just read in the Progress-Index about a project…

Pet waste contains high levels of bacteria, such as E. coli. When it rains, this bacteria is washed into local waterways and storm drains, ultimately making its way into the James River. Bacteria in waterways can negatively impact wildlife and be…
