Police seek bank robbery suspect

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 5630 Hopkins Road at about 9:20 a.m. Aug. 22. Police said the suspect approached a teller and passed a note demanding money. When the teller did not immediately respond to the note, the suspect allegedly assaulted a nearby customer. Upon receiving cash, the suspect fled the scene in a red truck, which was found abandoned in the area. No weapon was displayed during the robbery. Police charge woman in stabbing incident

Cheryl M. White Chesterfield County Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the 3700 block of Cannington Drive at 4:12 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. Police responded to the 3700 block of Cannington Drive, east of Hopkins Road, for a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers located a woman in the roadway with a knife. It was later determined that the woman with the knife had feloniously assaulted someone. Police received additional information that the victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the suspect and the victim are known to one another.…

Chesterfield Police recently arrested a man in connection with felony embezzlement that occurred at L.C. Bird High School. David Wayne Bedwell, 48, used school purchase orders to purchase approximately $5,000 worth of equipment and other items, which he allegedly took with him to Henrico upon being hired as the head coach at Hermitage High School in February. Bedwell, of the 2100 block of Hunters Mill Road in Powhatan, was employed as the athletic director at L.C. Bird High School when the purchases were made, police said. The Chesterfield County Planning Commission gave a unanimous approval recommendation last week on a proposed Carvana auto storage and inspection facility that would be built off Woods Edge Road east of Interstate 95. The matter now goes before the county Board of Supervisors on Sept. 25. The rezoning and conditional use permit application for the online car seller was delayed on July 16 after commissioners deadlocked on three 2-2 with Midlothian commissioner Peppy Jones absent.
