Richmond Brass coming to Chester
0The Richmond Brass and Percussion Consort will present its annual “Concert in Honor of America” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Chester Presbyterian Church, 3424 W. Hundred Road. The Richmond Brass and Percussion Consort is a large brass ensemble made up of trumpets, French horns, trombones, euphoniums, and tubas with percussion performing music from the 1600s through the present. From Sousa marches to popular and patriotic favorites through the centuries, the concert promises to be an enjoyable evening for the whole family — children through grandparents!

Making an impact: Teams of young people and adults help improve area homes
0About 100 youth converged on North Chesterfield last week to help with various projects on six homes in the Jefferson Davis Highway corridor. It was the second year that Impact Mission Camps – a subsidiary of the non-profit Baptist General Association of Virginia – came to the area to help. Glenn Maddox, the group’s missions mobilizer, said that North Chesterfield was one of five locations in Virginia and North Carolina where the teams helped. Real estate incentive programs aren’t new to Chesterfield County, but a fully electronic application that takes only minutes to complete and submit has made the process faster and more user-friendly. Planning Commission signs off on new billboard ordinance

The June 18 meeting followed a May 21 public hearing in which 10 people spoke about the proposed ordinance, which requires approval of the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors and would replace one that’s been in effect since 1992. (Courtesy photo) The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and Niagara Cares recently teamed up to give Thomas Dale High School’s fitness facility and urban garden a $75,000 renovation. Four times a year, the foundation and Niagara Cares collaborate on a two-day community enhancement project to promote a healthy style of living in communities.
