0If you drive under the influence in Chesterfield County, your chance of getting pulled over and arrested may have gone up with the recent launch of the county police department’s “ghost cruiser.” “The cruisers are low-profile without the traditional light bar on the roof, and they have low-profile graphics on the side to minimize the amount they stand out,” police spokeswoman Liz Caroon said. Robbery suspect apprehended
0Chesterfield police served a warrant on a man who was wanted on suspicion of robbery following incidents outside Falling Creek Apartments around 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 24. Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect and a suspect vehicle. Detectives identified the suspect as Franklin P. Robinson, 37, of the 4800 block of Sydclay Drive in Henrico. Police obtained warrants for Robinson for two counts of robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 0A man was displaced from his home after a fire broke out in his residence in the 4300 block of Shillcutt Road Tuesday, April 23. Smoke was spotted coming from the roof vents when fire crews arrived at 5:02 p.m., fire department spokesman Jason Elmore said. The fire began in the kitchen and spread to the attic, Elmore said, noting that two cats died in the blaze. “No one was home at the time of the fire,” Elmore said, noting the home sustained moderate damage. Chester teen dies after being shot
0(Facebook photo) Richmond police are asking the public for help in regard to the April 15 shooting of a Chester teen that occurred in the 4000 block of Meridian Avenue near Jefferson Davis Highway. Police identified the victim as Samuel Flaugher, 19, of Chester. He had attended Thomas Dale High School, according to his Facebook page. At around 9 a.m. Monday, April 15, Richmond police responded to the report of a person shot. Officers found Flaugher suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Illegal immigrant gets four years in manslaughter case
0A Guatemalan national residing in the U.S. illegally was sentenced to a total of four years in prison last week for killing a 4-year-old boy in a two-vehicle crash Aug. 25 last year. Jose Armelio Gonzalez-Flores, 29, was given a total of 20-plus years with all but four years suspended. Judge Frederick G. Rockwell III sentenced Gonzalez-Flores as part of a plea agreement to 10 years, all suspended, for cocaine possession; 10 years, with all but 3 1/2 years suspended, for involuntary manslaughter; and six months for driving on a suspended license. County Parks and Rec office moving
0The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department’s administrative office will be moving from its current location at 6801 Mimms Loop to 12140 Harrowgate Road, the former home of the Chester Library. The move is planned for May 13-14. The office is temporarily relocating until a new administrative office is completed at the old Beulah Elementary School. Public parking is available off Werth Street. Sharon K.
