36 CCPS teachers receive Gold Star financial recognition

CHESTERFIELD – Thirty-six Chesterfield County teachers were recently named recipients of W!SE’s 2017-18 Gold Star Teacher award. To be considered for this national recognition, a teacher must have achieved a 93-percent pass rate in at least one class on either the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 W!SE Financial Literacy Certification test. Chesterfield County Public Schools’ 36 recognized teachers represented nearly 6.5 percent of the 557 teachers recognized nationally for their work last school year. Woman’s Club hears about United Network of Organ Sharing

Police investigate gas station robbery

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the A Plus gas station at 2421 W. Hundred Road just east of Chipotle Mexican Grill at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. No one was injured in the robbery. Police said a man rushed into the business, pushed the clerk to the ground and took cash. Upon taking the cash, the suspect fled on foot in the direction of the Suburban Inn. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a black jacket with a hood covering his face. Teen girl charged after alleged assaults at L.C. Bird High School

A 15-year-old L.C. Bird High School student was charged after she allegedly assaulted two school employees and a school resource officer last week. Chesterfield County Police Department spokeswoman Liz Caroon said the teen was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of assault and battery against a school official, two counts of attempted malicious wounding and possessing a weapon on school property. The incident took place Thursday, Nov. 29. It was reported that three juvenile females planned to fight. Before the fight began, one of the girls displayed a knife with a 4-inch blade. A call came into emergency communications at 2:57 p.m. Lt. Jason Elmore of Chesterfield Fire and EMS said crews found heavy fire emanating from the house when they arrived on scene.
