David did not lose his battle with cancer, but used it to educate today’s fire service about the dangers of carcinogens and the steps necessary to protect firefighters from them. Charge refiled against man who was Tased

A 22-year-old Richmond man who was Tased earlier this year for failure to comply with police officers’ orders recently had a charge refiled against him. James Monk was initially arrested March 28 near Virginia State University and charged with obstruction of justice and having illegal window tint. The charges were dismissed in late August, but refiled Oct. 11. Monk faces a preliminary court date at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 1 and another court date at 1 p.m. Nov. 20. This is the 10th year of the Hall of Fame inductions. The new members were also honored at the Bird-Monacan football game Friday night.

Man gets four years in juvenile detention for killing 18-year-old: Convict said shooting was accidental

A 17-year-old North Chesterfield resident was recently sentenced to four years in a state juvenile detention facility after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and reckless use of a firearm. Abdul Q. “Qadi” Crapps-Robinson was originally charged with second-degree murder and reckless handling of a firearm. In conjunction with “Domestic Violence Awareness Month,” the Judges of the Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court recently introduced the Hope Card project. Hope Cards are durable, wallet-sized cards available to petitioners of family abuse protective orders upon entry of a final order of protection They are designed for petitioners’ convenience, listing the provisions included in a final protective order. The size of a credit card, Hope Cards are an easier way for petitioners to keep active protective orders on their person at all times.
