County to borrow $102M to fund maintenance and road projects
0On Sept. 23, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors approved borrowing up to $102.6 million for major maintenance projects for the county and schools. Some $65 million of the total will go toward school maintenance projects, a board document states. About $5 million will go for county maintenance projects, including renovations to the Beulah Recreation Center and the Enon Firing Range and demolition of the fuel farm at the county airport. Chesterfield high school tracks closures for student-athlete conditioning
0As student-athletes return to preseason conditioning for Virginia High School League athletics, specific protocols with social distancing and keeping groups of people apart will mean that high school fields and tracks may need to be closed off while participation and set-up/take down are taking place. 0The Shepherd’s Center of Chesterfield hosted its 16th annual Ice Cream Social on Sept. 23, at Goyne Park in Chester. The beautiful, crisp, Wednesday afternoon provided the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of fellowship, frozen treats, and social distancing, sponsored by the Crandol, Twilley, Raybould, and Yankowsky families Thrivent Financial. The Ice Cream Social is a signature event for this nonprofit interfaith organization that offers free, accompanied transportation, in-home handyman services, and “low-cost, life long learning” classes to adults over 60 in Chesterfield and the surrounding communities.
