0Two Matoaca High School soccer players, along with a member of the school’s competition cheerleading squad, committed to colleges this past week. Wilson Tunnell will head to Ferrum. Madi Thrasher will go west to Bluefield College, and cheerleader Amiya Mason will head to Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia. Tunnell is a tough defender who started every game in his junior year and so far his senior season. Police look for robbery suspect
0CHESTERFIELD COUNTY – Police are searching for a male suspect who robbed a woman at the Wells Fargo Bank at 7300 Jefferson Davis Highway around 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 23. No one was injured during the robbery and no weapons were displayed. Police said the suspect approached the female as she was entering the bank and grabbed a bag that she was attempting to carry inside to conduct business. Pepe’s Mexican and Hibachi Box restaurants — which are owned by Nelson and Paulo Benavides and located in Midlothian and Richmond — sponsored Colonial Heights native Gray Gaulding’s No. 23 Toyota Camry in the ninth race of the season. Dominion to host open houses about power line project
0Dominion Energy will conduct an open house from 6-8 p.m. April 24 at Elizabeth Scott Elementary in Chester to talk about an upcoming project to replace 230-kilovolt power lines. Another open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. April 26 at Carter G. Woodson Middle School in Hopewell. Dominion is proposing a project to rebuild a portion of a double-circuit electric transmission line connecting its Chesterfield and Hopewell substations. April 19 fire displaces two
0CHESTERFIELD COUNTY — The Chesterfield County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded late Thursday night, at 11:02 p.m. to the 3000 block of Woodworth Rd to the report of a house fire. Fire crews arrived to find a brick ranch-style home with heavy fire involvement. It took fire crews about an hour to get the fire under control. The house suffered significant damage and one occupant received a minor injury but was not transported to the hospital. The Chesterfield County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire started on the outside of the house because of discarded smoking materials.…
Police identify body found in Ettrick
0CHESTERFIELD COUNTY – Chesterfield County Police have identified the body of a man found on Saturday, April 14, in a wooded area in the 21600 block of Chesterfield Avenue in Ettrick. The man has been identified as Biniyam J. Eddington, 19, of the 3300 block of Main Street in Chesterfield. The body was discovered on April 14 at approximately 9:30 p.m. with the assistance of the Petersburg Bureau of Police and Virginia State University Police. A cause of death has not yet been determined, but at this point there are no signs of foul play. Police continue their investigation. Anyone…
