Chelsea Longbottom, a home educator, committed volunteer, wife, and mother, was chosen to compete for the title of Mrs. Virginia America from a field of applicants throughout the area. Longbottom’s commitment to raising her children with a strong sense of giving back to the region through volunteerism, community outreach, and social and educational activities throughout the county were significant in her being chosen for the title of Mrs. Chesterfield. “I want to use this time and platform to restore morale during a trying year, support and promote small and local businesses, and do my part in continuing to serve our…

Racked with issues

0

My wife and I were out and about the other day, and she wanted to go to Marshall’s. As we were sitting at the light, on Meadowdale, I noticed flowers and what not, on the other side of the intersection, indicating that someone had probably lost their life. I said to Becky, “I wonder what happened there?” Becky had actually seen this on the news, and knew the details. Let me start by saying: I did not know the people involved in this horrific crash, but I took time to pray over everyone involved. As I heard the story of…

L.C. Bird track athlete gets four offers

0

Rising senior Jeremiah Wilks has seen an uptick of interest in his services over the last couple of months. He tallied four offers: from Indiana Tech, Alderson Broaddus, Missouri Valley, and Central Methodist. “Wilks is a very determined athlete,” said L.C. Bird track coach Adam Canning. “I believe he is willing to put everything into being great. He is the type of kid who will be the first one at practice working on hurdles and the last to leave after the workout to work on hurdles some more.” That work ethic has certainly attracted the attention of colleges and produced…

In his first Indianapolis 500, spotter and Thomas Dale graduate Jesse Vaughan posted a quality performance along with his driver, James Henchcliffe. The Andretti racing team and driver placed seventh in the historic race.  “It was unreal.  The first day I was nervous before we got on track, but once ‘Hinch’ got out there it was business as usual,” Vaughan said. “He was really easy to work with, and the Andretti guys were very accommodating.  It was odd being on that huge property with no fans, but it was still the 500.” “I learned a lot and after every day…

Disneyland visit

0

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If my calendar is correct, which it is sometimes, we have a holiday coming up, Labor Day.  The really good news is that there are some places that are actually open this time, even if they are only partly open. I think it would be a great time to go to places that are usually packed wall to wall with people, like Disneyland. The last time I was there was so long ago. I think it was in July because it was very hot and they had these mist…
