Students receive top honors for regional MLK Jr. art and essay contest
0CHESTERFIELD – Six Chesterfield County Public Schools students recently received top honors for their entries in a regional essay and art contest, “Working Together We’ll Sow the Seeds of Peace,” sponsored by the DuPont Spruance plant to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Falling Creek Middle students swept the essay category for middle schoolers. Jamaal Goodson received the top honor in the essay contest, while Chasity Elise Ford and Andre Yarbrough were awarded second and third places, respectively. Falling Creek 11-U basketball team wins championship
0The Falling Creek Blackhawks 11-U basketball team won the Chesterfield Basketball League championship in the Minor PAC 10 division on March 3 with a 38-25 win over Ettrick. The team was coached by Andrew Lewis, who played at Thomas Dale High School in 1977-78 and is in the school’s Hall of Fame. The assistant coach was John Matthews and the statistician was John Sulimay. Lewis also coached at L.C. Bird for a number of years. Police investigating Harrowgate convenience store robbery
0CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police are investigating an armed robbery to the 7-11 Convenience Store at 12120 Harrowgate Road at about 3:13 a.m. on Saturday, March 17. No one was injured during the incident. Police said a man entered the business, displayed a firearm and demanded money. Police investigating Sexton Drive shooting
0CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 6400 block Sexton Drive at about 4:40 a.m. on Monday, March 19. When police arrived, they found one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The man was transported to the hospital with non-life- threatening injuries. Police continue their investigation into this incident.
