Adams, Hughes sworn in as constitutional officers

Carey Adams and Jenefer Hughes were sworn in as constitutional officers of Chesterfield County Friday afternoon. In a ceremony in the county’s public meeting room, Adams was sworn in as county treasurer, and Hughes was sworn in as the county’s commissioner of the revenue. Adams has worked for Chesterfield County for more than 29 years. He worked for about four years as an accounting manager in the Accounting Department, and he has served 25 years as chief deputy treasurer. Local student to play in jazz ensemble

During its fall concert, the Eastern Mennonite University Jazz Ensemble, of which North Chesterfield’s William Ragland is a member, will play swing, up-tempo funk, two Benny Carter pieces, and more. The 16-member ensemble under the direction of Robert Curry will take the stage at Lehman Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. The concert is free and open to the public. C.C. Wells event raises money for school in Florida hit by Irma

C.C. Wells Elementary participated in their first Turkey Trot for a Cause, a project-based learning event developed by fifth grade students during their resource classes.  The students were challenged with this problem: they wanted to help kids impacted by a hurricane and develop a school-wide event that would raise funds to help with recovery. The Turkey Trot, held Friday, was developed over a month-and-a-half period. Tyler Harris, a local high school student at L.C. Tech Center holds competition in support of veterans

     Chesterfield Career & Technical Center students of the Cisco Networking Academy, working alongside industry professionals, hosted the inaugural Hack4Troops cyber-security fundraiser event on Veterans Day and helped to raise over $14,000 to support veterans through the Tech For Troops Project. High school students, college students, and professionals came together for this unique cyber security event.
