Thomas Dale 39, Meadowbrook 0 It was a beautiful October night for some Friday night light action as the Meadowbrook Monarchs visited the Thomas Dale Knights in a primetime conference matchup. To start the game, both sides started off slow, with penalty after penalty slowing each side down and offenses trying to figure out their opponents’ defensive schemes. Eventually, the Knights’ offense ignited. Thomas Dale was led by a fierce ground attack on offense. Running back Chris Tyree was the big story of the night on both sides of the ball. He made 16 rushes for 67 yards and a touchdown and…

Dogpound birthday

0

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful birthday world of the Dogpound. Yep…this old dog just had another birthday… last Sunday. Another notch in the old belt…the only problem is that this belt is getting closer to the end than to the beginning. It does make you sit down and reflect on the past; the good ..the bad..the highs, and the lows. So many dreams have come and gone…never thinking back then, I would be where I am today. I am not complaining..the good Lord has been good to me; I am still working…my health is pretty good….not the industrial…

A cool building with a breakable past

Located on Jefferson Davis Highway at the corner of the property slated for the Moore’s Lake Apartments project is a decaying building with a green tile roof and the word Pottery engraved above the front door. It’s last tenant was a feed and seed store, but in its heyday when it was first constructed in 1932, it was known as the Cavalier China Co., a direct factory outlet selling dinnerware, an assortment of ornamental vases such as Roseville and McCoy, breakfast plates, and pottery of all sizes and styles to vacation travelers heading north and south on Highway 301/Route 1.…

What does that mean for our local roads? Harrowgate and Route 10 are already extremely congested in the evenings, and they want to potentially add thousands more to it?” Pentecost said. “If all of these people are going to actually move to the area, where are the plans for the additional homes and schools? Our schools are overcrowded as it is. I really don’t think Chester can handle the amount of people [or] cars that would be a result of such a massive complex.” All three BARD members plan on continuing their fight against the Matoaca Mega Site through social…

County priorities? Healthy living, well being, safety, security, thriving communities,  environmental stewardship Comprehensive Plan what was called such in 1989, and the road was shown there as well.   Project costs should run between $50 and $75 million. “Staff anticipates acquiring right-of-way for the East-West Freeway as early as Spring 2018,” Smith said. According to Smith, since the Banners Station case in 2006, there has been a cloud hanging over some property owners along the major road alignments. “We need to give them the benefit of being proactive and making good on their homes,” Smith said.
