Village News Makes Music at Disney

The Thomas Dale High School Band traveled to Disney World with the Village News in April, and under the direction of their band leaders, Mr. Steve Barton and Mr. David Holley, the musicians got a professional recording experience at the Walt Disney’s UR Instrumental Studio. They were given music in the Disney World recording studio, which rehearsed, recorded and synced two scenes from the animated blockbuster, “Frozen.”

World history and human geography teacher Anne Canipe has returned home from San Francisco after a week-long World Project Based Conference in Napa Valley. The R.E.B.  recipient’s story was shared in the Village News June 24 issue detailing how she would be using the $12,000 grant she received for her excellence in teaching. Dating back to last summer, L.C. Bird baseball alum Corey Anderson and his mother Sonya Anderson were not sure if he would be able to take the field this spring due to a herinated disc in his back. The injury likely cost Anderson valuable time to be viewed by college coaches. While the injury brought him down, it has not thwarted the young man. The Post 284 Bucs defeated the rival Pirates last Friday in the first game of a double header that was shortened by rain. Grant Boyd (King College), a graduate of Matoaca High School has been swinging a hot bat over the last week. Boyd, along with Colonial Heights’ slugger Zach Stoupa hit home runs to support the Bucs’ cause as they won 3-0. Boyd also unloaded the bases with a double in the game that was called due to rain. Hello and welcome back to the concerned world of the Dogpound. Max had another bad spell, and I had to take him in to the vet for a full exam.  The good news is that he has no cancer or tumors, just a very bad case of arthritis in his hips and his sternum. Fireworks at Fairgrounds July 4 Celebrate our independence with a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. The event, held at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (across from L.C. Bird High School), includes an activity area for children and special entertainment.
