CCPL robotics team qualifies for world championship

On February 22, the LibraryBots, a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team sponsored by the Chesterfield County Public Library, were one of only four Virginia teams who advanced to the worldwide FIRST Championship. To earn the right, the team competed against more than 50 other robotics teams from Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. at the FTC Virginia State Championship at Atlee High School in Mechanicsville. Police recovered hundreds of stolen tools from a residence in the 6700 block of Mason Valley Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 25. On Feb. 21, police received a report that a known suspect was selling stolen tools from a residence in the 6700 block of Mason Valley Drive. On Feb. 25, detectives executed a search warrant at the home and recovered hundreds of stolen tools. Also on that date, Amilcar D. Two years ago, with the help of genealogist Sahara Bowser, Jim McKnight penned and released “My Story of a Sharecropper’s Life,” a book about the life of his grandfather. McKnight wrote the book to have history available to his grandfather’s descendants, and he wanted to maintain the legacy in writing for the younger people in his family who didn’t have the privilege of talking with him at past family reunions. Brennan McCarney Brennan McCarney, 16, will embark on a U.S. tour with the internationally-renowned ensemble Celtic Angels Ireland as a member of the Celtic Knights Dance Troupe through the entire month of March.
