0New Planning Commission members approved At its Jan. 8 meeting, the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors named Midlothian supervisor Leslie Haley chairwoman for the year by a 4-1 vote with Jim Holland disssenting. Haley was chair last year. Prior to the vote, Holland said he believed that the chair and vice chairman positions should be rotated among the supervisors, who serve four-year terms. Matoaca supervisor Kevin Carroll was named vice chair in a unanimous vote. Chase gets one committee assignment

Amanda Chase was given only one committee assignment last week by the Democratic Party caucus, which sets the rules for the body that it controls 21-19. Although Chase said on Facebook that she would be sitting in numerous committee meetings, she would not be doing it as an official member of the committees. Andrea Peeks took over on Monday as director of Budget and Management and Donald “Brent” Epps Jr. as director of Transportation. Khara Durden will begin as the director of Internal Audit on Feb. 10. 0During 2019 Chesterfield Courthouse Chapter National Society Daughters of the Revolution worked again with the library of Virginia as part of the Library’s “Adopt Virginia’s History” program to preserve a second important piece of history – Chesterfield County (Va.) Lists of Tithables, 1752 June, that records the list of tithable heads of household in Chesterfield County for June 1752. Included within this document are individuals whose descendants still live in Chesterfield County, including the Blankenships, Cogbills, Vanns, and Vadens. DMV issues one million REAL IDs
0“Milestone” reached for issuance of credential allowing air travel, access to secure federal facilities The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued more than one million REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses and identification cards. Beginning Oct. 1, Virginians who want to use their state-issued driver’s license or identification card to board a domestic flight will have to present a REAL ID-compliant credential, displaying a small star in the upper-right corner, when passing through Transportation Security Administration screenings.
