Traffic is the major issue about Carvana
0Editor: The Board of Supervisors missed the point in their approval of Carvana for Woods Edge road. Yes, the usage of the actual property is not bad; yes, there is a buffer; and yes, the noise is contained. But the sight and the sound could only affect, at most, those subdivision homeowners immediately across the project, not the majority of homeowners in each subdivision. What will affect everyone in Southcreek, Walthall Creek, and Riggers Stations subdivisions, however, is the traffic. That is the elephant in the room which supervisors failed to see. At minimum, there will be 500 employees in…

Robenson enjoys teaching kindergarten
0Marguerite Christian Elementary’s Teacher of the Year had dreams of being a social worker and started her career at Richmond Memorial Hospital. Sarah Robenson did short-term rehabilitation and was responsible for assisting patients with care once they returned home, or she placed them in a nursing home if they weren’t able to go home. At some point, Robenson’s vision of being a registered nurse no longer aligned with the hospital’s, so she made the switch to education. Her 19 years of experience helped her with being a teacher, and she said she has more of an understanding because of her…
Garlic – a burst of flavor that may also have some health benefits
0I was recently asked to contribute to a cookbook that uses garlic in every recipe. I wrote the foreward and cooking tips. The book, “Aglio Garlic Lover’s Cookbook” by Arabelle Publishing of Chesterfield, includes savory and sweet recipes for everyday meals and special occasions. Never thought I would see a recipe for garlic vanilla ice cream, but there it is on page 84. The author, Caroline Sherman, has enjoyed the flavor of garlic for over 20 years and finally put her recipes on paper to share with anyone else who likes the pungent flavor. While researching for the book, I…

Parental supervision
0Whether it be juvenile firesetting, near drowning or children left in a car, each of these results from a lack of parental supervision. For the youngest child, it is easy to see the need for parental supervision. Parenting is a 24/7 job, with minimal time for you. Moms and dads have a great responsibility, to provide a safe and loving environment for their children to grow and prosper. Young children depend on their parents for the proper care and supervision, but I will say that the same care, guidance and supervision is necessary for your children, especially once they enter…
