On Oct. 4, county and company officials and others marked the addition of the company’s $4 million second phase, which includes manufacturing in a 45,000-square-foot facility at 8000 Whitepine Road. The company’s glass fiber pipe liner product is one of the most popular solutions for trenchless sewer rehabilitation throughout the world, a press release states. Robertson convicted of $10M fraud
0A former L.C. Bird football player was convicted by a federal jury on Oct. 28. Merrill Robertson Jr., 39, was convicted of mail fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 3. Robertson had been convicted of the same offenses in 2017 and sentenced to 40 years in prison, according to the daily. However, an appeals court ordered a new trial earlier this year because jurors weren’t questioned adequately about whether they had read a news story about the case. Chesterfield names new building inspection director
0After a nationwide recruitment effort, Chesterfield County announced last week that it has hired Ronald W. Clements Jr. as its new director of the Building Inspection Department. Clements currently serves as the county’s assistant building inspection director. He began his new role Nov. 1 at a salary of $140,000. He replaced Richard C. Witt, who retired after 34 years with the county, including nine as the director of the department. Clements has been with the department since 1999, during which time he has contributed to numerous process improvements, technology enhancements and staff development initiatives. She is a self-proclaimed “hands-on, out-of-the-box teacher” who likes to transform her classroom in order to keep her students guessing. “It’s almost like we’re in competition with their life outside of school and their video games and their constant movement, but we just really want them to love learning,” Burnett said.
