Burton commits to Va. Wesleyan
0While coach Jake Wiseman continues to rebuild L.C. Bird’s baseball program, local colleges are watching. Another standout will play at the college level: pitcher Gavin Burton. The senior is a 6-foot, 177-pound righty has a mid-80-mph fastball and a slider. He is slotted in to be the Skyhawks’ ace when baseball starts up in the spring. He’ll join L.C. Bird alum and outfielder Jaelen Hines on the Virginia Wesleyan roster. A member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, Wesleyan was 22-17 overall, 13-9 in conference play. Burton plans to major in criminal justice.
Police investigate crash, warrants issued
0The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred in the 4500 block of Iron Bridge Road at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. Police said a black BMW was traveling west on Iron Bridge Road when it left the roadway and traveled down an embankment near Falling Creek north of Route 150. Two men were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Three arrest warrants were obtained for Abdul-Malik Lawton, 37, of Richmond, related to DUI and driving on a revoked license.

0Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. As of this writing we just finished Halloween. The town where I live (Sullivan, Ind.) actually had its trick or treat night on Wednesday, not Thursday, in part due to the bad weather that was forecast. Temperatures were dropping, winds were picking up, and among the rain drops there were a few wannabe snowflakes.
