Holidays in the Dogpound

Hello and welcome back to the holiday edition of the Dogpound. As usual we at the Dogpound lose track of holidays and stick to our philosophy that for the most part holidays are just a reminder of something we should be doing on a regular bases. So for starters, a big shout out to all that have proudly served or are serving to keep this great country safe and free (Veteran’s Day). I served by joining the Army ROTC while in college and when it became time for me to become active, the Army, by a toss of the coin, decided that they had enough active duty officers, and placed me in the Army Reserves. Seven years of once-a-month weekend drills and a two-week summer camp in the middle of nowhere. Oh the stories I could tell, but I won’t. Anyway…make sure you give and send your respect to any service man or woman you know or meet. Next…Happy Thanksgiving…hard to believe it is that time already but it is. I know nothing is perfect but when you really look around the world, I think you will agree with me, that we have been more than blessed in so many ways. I know we get all deeply involved in planning dinners…visiting with family…watching football…and of course shopping, but we need to make time…a special time, to give proper thanks for all that we have received this year. I know I have my aches and pains…I have my frustrations at work…but compared to a lot of folks around the world, I have nothing to complain about and I have a lot to give thanks for. Then…last but not least…Merry Christmas! Yes…I said it here..in print…Merry Christmas! Not Happy Holidays…or Happy Non-Descriptive Holiday. I know some folks say this is a minor distraction…but not so. Change happens only one small piece at a time…and before you know it …we will stop hearing Christmas songs on the radio…or parades have to be non-holiday themed…or Christmas CD’s have to be placed in plain brown wrapping paper. I know you are kind of gaffing at my point…but who would have thought that a simple phrase as Merry Christmas would become a questionable remark? So buckle up Dogpound pack members…put your holidays in order and celebrate them every day that you can. Don’t wait for a date on a calendar to do the right thing.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future.  It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.”
–Angnes M. Pharo

I think I have covered all the holidays for the rest of the year…so I am good! As always be good, do good, play safe, be safe, and remember the holidays start in your heart.
