by Louis Harrison Monacan 37, L.C. Bird 22 Going into Friday’s game, L.C. Bird had not lost to Monacan since 1998. The Chiefs were able to overpower the Skyhawks on their home turf winning 37-22. There was plenty of star power in the game, as Bird boasts the top running back in the area, C.J. Donaldson, while Monacan has a four-year starter quarterback in Syour Fludd, and perhaps the area’s second best rusher, Korey Bridy. L.C. Bird held the lead in the second quarter as quarterback Marcus Banks took off on a wild 90-yard touchdown run, making the score 14-10.…

Manchester 24, L.C. Bird 21  In the heavy mist of a cool, dreary October night, the “game of the week” match-up could not have been any better, it was a nail-biter to the very end. As both teams came into the game at 5-1, this was more than just a game for the better record; it was for bragging rights. Manchester started the game off slow. They had some three-and-outs early on, and L.C. Bird managed to draw first blood. The Lancers quickly answered with a touchdown pass by Wake Forest commit Brendon Clark.  Later, Manchester scored in the fourth…

When people think about real football, they think about a cold, rainy, smash-mouth type of football game being played on a wet and muddy field. Well, Friday night at Thomas Dale’s Ed Karpus Field, there was an abundance of high school football aroma. Both L.C. Bird and Thomas Dale played what seemed to be just a running back show of power. The Knights won 36-6 after eight straight losses to the Skyhawks in their annual game. “This win means a lot to the community and to the kids,” said Thomas Dale coach Kevin Tucker. “We have wanted this one for…
