In their last game of the season, the Matoaca Warriors hosted the Petersburg Crimson Wave.
Thanks to Kyle Williams and the defense, Matoaca started off hot-putting up two touchdowns giving them an early lead of 14-0. The Wave quickly responded on assuming possession, going 70 yards on one play and cutting the lead to 6. Matoaca’s offense stepped back on the field and got two more touchdowns before Petersburg would score. The Warriors found themselves ahead 28-16.
After halftime, Matoaca would allow a touchdown before scoring 10 more points to close out a 38-22 win over Petersburg.
The Warriors finish the season on a good note by winning 3 of their last 4. The Crimson Wave finish their season 4-6.


MEADOWBROOK 14
HOPEWELL 6
On a cloudy night, the Meadowbrook Monarchs would host the Hopewell Blue Devils in a game where the Monarchs were fighting for a playoff spot.
Both teams playing good defense it led to the game being scoreless before a Paul Davis touchdown giving the Monarchs a 7-0 lead in the second quarter. Hopewell wouldn’t wait to score as Aaron Grier would run one in. The Blue Devils would miss an XP letting the Monarchs keep a 7-6 lead going into halftime.
With a win, the Monarchs clinched a playoff berth and will go to face Hermitage next Friday. For Hopewell, another loss gives them their 3rd consecutive dropping to 6-4. The Blue Devils will host Southampton as the VHS playoffs will start next Friday.


L.C. BIRD 55
COSBY 3

In their last game of the regular season, the L.C. Bird Skyhawks hosted the Cosby Titans.
After halftime is when the Skyhawks turned on the jets. In the first play of the second half, Jeremiah Carter would break one for 73 yards. Donaldson would also break a long one giving the Skyhawksa 29-3 lead going to the fourth.
The Skyhawks would score four more touchdowns, including two by Carter before the game would end. The Skyhawks came out on top 55-3. Bird has found themselves in the playoffs yet again as they finished the season 7-3 and clinched the 4th seed in the Region B 5A Playoffs. The Skyhawks host Varina for a second consecutive year and the Cosby Titans finish the season 1-9 and will miss the playoffs for the 1st time since 2010.

Thomas Dale hosted the Prince George Royals in a game that went the Knights’ way throughout the night.
The Knights would turn on the jets and would not turn them off. The Knights rush attack would stay consistent the whole way. The Knights would score 20 points in the 1st quarter including 2 touchdowns by Chris Tyree giving them a 20-0 lead.
Before you know it, the Knights took control of the game as they would score 3 more touchdowns in the second quarter giving them a 42-0 lead going into halftime. Prince George would put up two Omar Powell touchdowns before the Knights closed out the game. The Knights would come on top with a 49-14 win over the Royals.
The Knights would be headlined by their running backs as Chris Tyree led the way with 107 yards on 5 carries to go along his 3 touchdowns. AJ Chavis would rush for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Thomas Dale finishes the season 8-2 while clinching a 3rd seed in the Region 6B and will host Franklin County in the 1st round of the playoffs. For Prince George, they finish 4-6 and fall short of the playoffs.
