School Honors: Laura Pond

Laura Pond, daughter of Lennie and Catherine Pond, a 2011 graduate of James Madison University and a 2007 graduate from L.C. Bird High School, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Corporate Communication.

Scholarship recipients hope for regular reunion

Cline Appliances was a fixture in the Chester community for many, many years. The Cline family was as much a part of the community, as was Magee’s Pharmacy or the Chesterfield Bank. The appliance business is gone from Chester now but its legacy lives on through the Panchita Cline Scholarship at Thomas Dale High School.

The friends and classmates of Devin Hawkins, a student at Carver Middle School who was tragically lost this spring, planted a memorial butterfly garden in his memory on June 11.

Cousins, servicemen undergo advanced training

Cousins Daniel and Chris Singleton are currently at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., completing their advanced training. Daniel, 23, a U.S. Marine, graduated from Parris Island, S.C., February 25 of this year.
