Deltiology is the collection and study of picture postcards. Chester Library will be hosting the Old Dominion Postcard Club as they present a House of Postcards exhibit. The Club has invited you to view and enjoy an amazing display of postcards throughout the Chester Public Library, highlighting the wonderful world of postcard collecting. Annual “Get Your Butts to Broadway” Festival on June 25

The third annual “Get Your Butts to Broadway” Festival in downtown Hopewell is right around the corner. Featuring some of the best backyard pork butt cookers in the region, this festival puts BBQ cookers to the test, unleashing the best butts known to man. With beer, live music, and plenty of food, this signature event is one you don’t want to miss. This year there will be nine competitors all competing for the title of “Best Butt on Broadway.” For $10, patrons will be able to taste a sample of each of the competitors BBQ and vote for the winner…

Former teacher racks up 1,194 volunteer hours

Alice Robinson was nominated as an Outstanding Volunteer. She accumulated 1,194 hours after age 60, and she taught for 39 years. Ms. Robinson volunteers her time and talents with Chesterfield County Public Schools, where she helps struggling readers feel successful. At Curtis Elementary, she tutored individual first graders reading below grade level and set up a checkout system for books in the reading room. Now at Harrowgate Elementary, she continues individual tutoring with first graders. She schedules her physical therapy sessions around her volunteering schedule so as not to disappoint the children. Route 10 Speed Limit is 35 mph

To the Editor: I am writing this letter concerning the speed limit on West Hundred Road in both directions. The speed limit is 35mph not 55 or 60 mph. Why are you speeding every day? I see drivers of cars, pickup, FedEx, postal delivery and dump trucks as well as school buses speeding, also there is a work zone on Jefferson Davis Hwy past Lowe’s posted 35mph. Why are you speeding? I hope the police will start taken action as these speeders are breaking the law. I suppose they are late for work, school, doctor or dentist appointments, shopping, etc.…
