CHANGE OF TIME FOR DOM POWER EPA MEETING
0A meeting is set tonight, at Thomas Dale High School at 6:30 to discuss water quality of fly ash holding ponds at Dominion Virginia Power in Chester. A report from Duke U tested the water outflow into the James River as having carcinogens. Dominion has responded with a lawsuit stating the claim is unfounded.

0Chesterfield County principals presented some 4,300 high school diplomas at VCU’s Siegel Center during graduation week, June 9 through June 13. The series of convocations is the last for Superintendent Marcus Newsome, who will be taking a new leadership role at Petersburg City Public Schools as superintendent on July 1. Dr. Newsome will hand the reins to Dr. James F. Lane, the newly hired Superintendent. Dr. Newsome spoke at each ceremony in a bittersweet swan song of his time leading Chesterfield County Public Schools. Remember When: Chester High School
0Thomas Dale High School has seen several iterations. The school was built in 1906 (right) and named Chester Agricultural High School. Students came from as far away as Suffolk, and in 1907 the school had only two graduates. By 1917, it was renamed Chester High School, and in 1942 it was given its current name, Thomas Dale High School. In the early 1940s, a new building was constructed on the western side of the original building (above). The structure was later demolished. In 1964, another replacement facility opened less than a mile east on State Route 10.
