Matoaca High celebrated recently the school’s 52nd anniversary with homecoming festivities including crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. The senior class selected as their king and queen Justin Dyke and Taylor Thomas-Harris, two outstanding Matoaca student leaders.
Justin is a varsity football and soccer player and senior class vice president. He is a member of the Warrior Broadcast Network program, the FBLA and Key Clubs and serves on the Chesterfield Public Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Council.
Taylor is a member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Best Buddies club. She is a student leader in the James Madison I’m Determined Summer Leadership Conference and received the Chesterfield Outstanding Youth Award for academics and community service. When asked for her initial reaction upon learning she had been elected Homecoming Queen by her peers Taylor said, “I always wanted to be Homecoming Queen but did not think I would be chosen due to my disability. It was a dream come true!”
