The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify a suspect trying to pass counterfeit bills.

On the morning of Saturday, June 15, a man was at the counter of Boulevard Flowers, 2100 Ruffin Mill Road, ready to pay for some plants. He handed the clerk what appeared to be a military ID, but when the clerk asked him what branch he served in, the man could not answer. The man pulled money out to pay for the plants, but the clerk identified the money as counterfeit currency. The man took the fake bill back and paid with a real bill, which the clerk noticed was taken out of a second wallet the man was carrying.

Surveillance cameras were checked and the transaction was recorded. The suspect was a black male in his 40s. He was approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build. He wore a red ball cap, dark polo shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes.

Pictures from the surveillance footage can be seen on the Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers website, www.crimesolvers.net, and click on the “Crime of the Week” link.
