The Falling Creek Ironworks Foundation will present its free annual event on Saturday, May 21 at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. This event offers an opportunity to explore the site of America’s first iron furnace, the 1619-22 ironworks on Falling Creek, and to see some of the improvements recently added to the park.
Guides will lead tours through the archaeological ruins of the 1619 ironworks. Other activities include exhibits, costumed interpretation, musket militia demonstrations and Native American dancing. There also will be numerous children’s activities including tin pressing, corn husk dolls and candle making. Enjoy period music from Apastador and The Press Gang.
Food and drink will be available for purchase. Falling Creek Ironworks Park is located at 6407 Jeff Davis Highway, Chesterfield. For more information, contact Bryan Truzzie 804-751-4946 or www.fallingcreekironworks.org
