Members of the Matoaca High School American Red Cross Club and their family and friends volunteered on Saturday, April 23, at the Virginia Home 5K Fun Walk. This is the seventh year the 5K Fun Walk has taken place and the MHS American Red Cross Club has volunteered each time. The Virginia Home is a private, non-profit that provides nursing, therapeutic and residential care to adult Virginians with irreversible disabilities. Members of the club teamed up with different residents to assist them in the walk by: helping push their wheelchairs, guiding them around the course at beautiful Bird Park and mostly cheering them on and making them feel safe and cared for while participating in the event. All the volunteers had a lot of fun while serving others in our community.
