Schools open Sept. 6; that’s just over a month from now. Is your child registered? Help your child have the best possible start to the new school year by registering now with Chesterfield County Public Schools.
Registering now helps kindergarteners and other elementary students by making sure the correct amount of teachers is in place on the first day of school. Registering sooner rather than later helps middle and high school students get into the classes they want. Details about registering students are available here: mychesterfieldschools.com/parents/preparing-for-school/student-registration/.
During the summer, school offices are open Mondays through Thursdays to register new students. Summer office hours are generally 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but it is best to call ahead to your school to make sure someone will be available to help register your student. A list of schools with phone numbers is available at mychesterfieldschools.com/schools/.
If you are new to Chesterfield County or have moved within the county to a new home, you can easily find which school your child is zoned to attend by using this online find-my-school feature: mychesterfieldschools.com/parents/find-my-school/.
Another helpful resource for parents is the parent handbook. Printed versions go home with every student at the start of the school year, and a digital version is available online: mychesterfieldschools.com/wp-content/uploads/parents_files/2016-17Parent_Handbook.pdf.
Don’t wait until the last minute to enroll your child in Chesterfield County Public Schools; act now to help your child have a strong start to the 2016-17 school year. Every day counts.
