Halfway through the 2016 competition season, the father-son team of Greg and Matthew Flaherty are successfully campaigning their Moss-sponsored Miata as Flaherty Racing. These men are neighbors to Moss’ Petersburg facility, and Moss is excited to have a racer so close to our East Coast home.
Greg is a former late model stock car and drag racer, but son Matthew decided he wanted to race on road courses. Once they got connected with NASA (National Auto Sports Assoc.) they saw a perfect opportunity to get into Spec Miata racing. Currently, Matthew has worked his way up to HPDE (High Performance Driving Event) level 3, well on his way to competition licensing school in a couple of months. At their last event at Summit Point Raceway, Matthew’s laps were impressive and show how capable of a driver he is.
Their next event will be August 26 -28 at Virginia International Raceway.
