NORTH CHESTERFIELD – Hundreds of excited visitors streamed into the St. Augustine Catholic Church Festival during the four-day event last weekend.
Squeals of delight could be heard from excited children as they spotted the pony rides, games, and other midway rides such as the Sizzler and a Ferris wheel. The adults seemed to be smiling as brightly as the children.
Adriana Ambrose found her favorite ride right away. Sitting proudly on a brown and white pony, holding snuggly to the saddle, Ambrose rode like an expert while the owner carefully walked the pony around giving her an experience to cherish. “I liked it!” she said with a broad smile. The pony seemed to enjoy it as much as she did.
Delightful smells of carnival food drifted through the air promising cotton candy, candy apples, french fries, Elephant Ears, corn dogs, and a plentiful array of Central America-style foods.
Vendors had items such as clothing, blankets, hand crafted jewelry, and artwork.
Festival visitors had many opportunities to win prizes at the numerous games. County police officers patrolled the grounds, helping to keep the crowd safe.
With so many things to see and do, the festival was a fun adventure for all age groups.
