The Thomas Dale Theater department will present two productions next week. “Eleemosynary” will be performed Thursday, May 4 at 3 p.m., Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 6 at 3 p.m. The “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will be performed Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m., Friday, May 5 at 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m.
“Eleemosynary,” directed by Sophia Anthony (TDHS Specialty Center for the Arts, class of 2018), is a heartwarming and intimate production about the relationship of three generations of women, the youngest of whom happens to be a National Spelling Bee competitor. Join a talented trio of actresses behind the curtain in the small auditorium and experience theater at TDHS in a whole new way.
The “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” directed by Caroline Buddendorf (TDHS Specialty Center for the Arts, class of 2017), is a heartwarming and hilarious musical comedy about the highs and lows of competition in a county spelling bee. Six endearing and eager young spellers fight for the title of spelling bee champion, while overbearing, irritating, even omnipotent adults oversee their competition. Adding to the pandemonium of the bee, each performance will feature three unwitting and unrehearsed guest spellers, announced only the day of the performance.
All matinee shows are $5 and evening shows are $10. The shows will be held in Thomas Dale High School small auditorium with only 50 seats available. Tickets will be sold at the door. All shows contain mature themes and they are suitable for audiences.
Thomas Dale High School is located at 3626 W. Hundred Rd. Chester.
