Field Master Jim Daniels of Chester was the recipient of the annual William Whitehurst Trophy at a closing meet March 9. Daniels is pictured aboard Raleigh, an 1,800-pound former Richmond Police Department horse. Princess Anne Hunt awards the trophy to the member who shows exemplary dedication to the hunt for the year. Princess Anne Hunt’s kennels are located on the grounds of Sherwood Forest Plantation in Charles City. Twice weekly hunts are conducted from late October through the first of March in Charles City and surrounding counties. Approximately 100 members – riders and social members – participate in the festivities.
