Chris Barfield is shaping up to be a big-time recruit for L.C. Bird’s High School football program.
Recently, he snagged his second offer, this one from Georgetown University.
This comes on the heels of an offer from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school, after a standout performance at their Junior Day. Barfield has also made unofficial visits to Columbia, Princeton and Harvard.
Interest from some of the country’s top academic schools comes as no surprise. In addition to being a standout on the field, Barfield shows great leadership, has a 4.4 GPA and a love for the community.
“Barfield is the leader of your program on and off the field,” L.C. Bird coach Troy Taylor said. “He is in the engineering program at Bird and was the Wells Fargo Humanitarian Award winner for the Richmond area. He’s a great young man and a hard worker in the classroom, on the football field and in the weight room.”
Recently, Barfield and teammates volunteered at the Shepherd’s Way Relief Center in Richmond. The organization provides food, clothing and toiletries to those in need.
Barfield played safety and linebacker for L.C Bird last season, totaling 58 tackles and recovering a fumble. He’ll be a senior this coming season.
