The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department will be implementing additional efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in its park system, while protecting the health of county residents and employees.
The department has implemented several protective measures in parks, such as removing goals and nets from basketball and tennis courts.Effective Tuesday, April 7, all public restrooms will be closed.
The closures include permanent restrooms as well as portable toilets.
Closure of the county’s restroom facilities is being made out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of park patrons and staff.
While county parks remain open, many amenities are closed to the public.
Park visitors should come prepared to experience the park without expectation of toilets and hand washing and sanitation stations being available. Additionally, patrons should prepare for trips to the park and plan for shorter outings, which will allow for more patrons to enjoy the parks and help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Parks and Rec is respectfully asking the public to comply. And they encourage residents to continue practicing social distancing by keeping a 6-foot contact distance between people and by not congregating in large groups to limit the spread of COVID-19. Keep the required distance when you walk, bike, hike, or play.
