With health and safety in mind, John Tyler Community College is offering a fall class schedule that gives students options. The schedule includes; classes offered fully online; courses that combine in-person and online instruction; and a limited number of on-campus classes. These course options are designed to give students flexibility, whether they are attending college for the first time, continuing their college education, or working on new career goals.

Tyler’s full schedule of fall classes may be found at www.jtcc.edu/schedule, and it includes the following course options:

Classes that will meet on Zoom on specific days and times. These courses give students the opportunity to interact with their instructor and their classmates in a face-to-face virtual environment. Students can attend these classes from anywhere using a computer or mobile device.

Classes that are hybrid, blending face-to-face and online learning. Students in these courses will do a portion of their classwork online, using the student learning system Canvas. The face-to-face portion of their class will take place on Zoom or at one of Tyler’s campuses.

Classes that are fully online. Students in these classes will be given weekly assignments and interact on their own schedules using discussion boards and other technologies. These classes are taught in Canvas with no required Zoom or in-person meetings.

On-campus classes that meet either at the Chester or Midlothian campus.

Registration for the fall semester is currently underway. Those interested in attending Tyler must complete a free application for admission, found on the college’s website at www.jtcc.edu/apply before signing up for classes. The Tyler support team is available to help new students get started, with advising and registration services currently being offered remotely. Additional guidance for how to get started can be found at www.jtcc.edu/admissions/get-started-at-tyler or by attending a virtual information session (www.jtcc.edu/infosessions). Current Tyler students may sign up for their classes by logging into their myTyler account and using the Student Information System or Navigate.

Classes taught partially or completely on-campus will follow social distancing requirements, and face coverings will be required on campus. The college is also following disinfecting guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If Virginia steps back to an earlier phase due to increases in Virginia’   COVID-19 cases, the college is prepared to move all classes to remote formats.
