CHESTER – Nearly 40 Amazon associates from two local fulfillment centers visited the Chester Family YMCA June 29 to host more than 100 children for a field day.
Amazon surprised the Y with a golf cart filled with more than 2,700 items, such as water balloons, towels, and picnic blankets, to support programming throughout the summer.

“It’s important to us to support communities where we live and work, and we’re thrilled to work with Chester YMCA, who has been our partner since early this year,” said Caroline Cade, general manager at one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers. “This donation of paint, binoculars, sunscreen, and other summer items will help ensure all children have a fun and safe summer.”

The field day took place at YMCA’s Camp Red Feather in Chester. Activities included: Angry Pterodactyls (in place of Angry Birds) and Mesozoic Skee Ball as part of the camp’s “Jurassic World” week.

“We’re so grateful to Amazon for their continued support of our organization,” said Jamal Riley, executive director of the Chester Family YMCA. “Amazon’s donation will help expand our summer programming this year, so we can continue serving our community and providing safe, engaging activities for all local children.”
