The Chesterfield County Public Schools are looking for an additional $1.9 million after the recent conclusion of the state Assembly’s general session left a hole in its budget.
The school board approved a new budget in late February, but it was contingent on whatever was ultimately approved in the state budget.
During the board’s March 12 meeting, Christina Berta, the school district’s chief financial officer, told the school board about three options for dealing with the lack of funding.

The county’s proposed budget already includes the school board’s funding increase of $7.7 million over Fiscal Year 2019.
Also during last week’s meeting, Paula Aldrous was announced as the new director of finance, replacing Yvonne “Rene” Ewing. Sharon Pope succeeded Thomas Taylor, who became chief of staff.
