Meadowbrook High School football had a rough season in head coach Chamont Thompson’s first year, but the Monarchs still managed to see athletes such as Paul Davis and Frank Howard go to the next level.

Now, they’ve got a budding recruit on their hands in Tre Fowler-Davis. The rising junior recently attracted offers from Liberty and Notre Dame.

Fowler-Davis doesn’t have a star rating, and he’s been completely under the radar. Why? He played most of the 2019 season on the junior varsity squad.

At 6 feet, 170 pounds, he’s got a projectable frame, great speed and really got noticed at a camp at Liberty University after a dynamite performance.

A natural corner, he also excels at wide receiver. Thompson would know a thing or two about playing corner, as he starred at L.C. Bird as a defensive back.

“He’s a very coachable kid who’s a student of the game,” Thompson said. “His parents are very strict when it comes to academics, and they are very supportive of him.”

Fowler-Davis doesn’t have eye-popping stats, but he’s one to watch as he emerges on the recruiting radar.

“I believe his technique is extremely good,” Thompson said. “He is very aggressive at the line of scrimmage, and he loves to play press man-to-man coverage. To play on an island like that, you must possess a different type of swagger. I love his swagger. He welcomes competition.”

Notre Dame has been a mainstay in local sports news, as L.C. Bird High graduate Jalen Elliott, is a rising senior for the Fighting Irish. Brendon Clark, Manchester High’s quarterback for the state title run last season, is starting his academic and athletic career in South Bend,Ind., this fall, and Thomas Dale High’s rising senior running back Chris Tyree committed there last month and will become a member of the Fighting Irish in 2020.

In other recruiting news, Thomas Dale rising junior defensive end Bryce Carter recently picked up his ninth offer after a visit to North Carolina State. Coach Kevin Tucker has been vocal about the defensive stalwart and his ability to have 30 offers by the time he makes his college decision.
