L.C. Bird volunteer assistant coach Jimmie Rogers is no longer with the program after remarks on social media that included ethnically insensitive comments.

In response to a Facebook post that gave reasons why it would be difficult to celebrate the fourth of July, Rogers replied with the comment:

“Drink a gallon of Covid-19 and go back to where you came from,” Rogers said in a comment. “[Where you come from] the main mode of transportation is a donkey and you p…  outside of your front door home with dirt floors.”

Since the comments were made, it appears as if Rogers’s Facebook account has been deactivated. He could not be reached for comment. Screenshots were submitted to the Village News from multiple readers and Twitter followers.

L.C. Bird associate principal Quincy Waller said that such comments would not be tolerated at the school.

“Volunteer coach Jimmie Rogers is no longer with the football program,” the school said in a statement. “It was a mutual decision for him to no longer be involved with the school or it’s athletics.”
