Imagine the anticipation of Christmas morning and dreaming of a gift under the Christmas Tree. For many this dream will come true, but for others, just day-to-day survival is a struggle. Enon Church of God has launched a project to not only take part in Christmas but to change lives locally and globally.

A few days before Thanksgiving, 300 Christmas trees arrived at the Enon Church of God located at 900 Enon Church Rd. With the “Buy a tree, Change a life” project, the church is partnering with ForHope.us and People for Care & Learning.

Lead Pastor Bryan Ogle said he learned about the program from another pastor and saw the impact it had on the community.

Money from the tree sale will assist children locally and in Cambodia. “Part of the sales will be assisting People for Care and Learning and their project in Cambodia,” Ogle explained. “The program seeks to eradicate poverty through education. “

Locally, Pastor Ogle said the sales will benefit the 2016 school backpack program for children needing help with supplies.

The sale will go on until all the trees are sold. Volunteers from the church are manning the lot. The lot is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day and is located at the church.
This is the church’s first year with the tree sale project.

“We believe the church should lead the way in doing good for our community,” Ogle said. “One of our core values is to serve the world.”
