Two teachers honored at VCU ceremony

lucas-receives-teaching-awardAt Virginia Commonwealth University during a Jan. 7 pinning ceremony for National Board Certified Teachers, two additional Chesterfield County educators were honored:

Elizabeth Lucas, who teaches English at Bird High School, received the 2016 Dr. Judy Flythe Teacher Leader Award. Given by the Center for Teacher Leadership in VCU’s School of Education, this award honors a teacher who demonstrates deep understanding of the teaching and learning process and works with colleagues to improve instruction. The award is named in memory of the former director of staff development for Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Angelique Clarke, an award-winning teacher in Chesterfield County Public Schools who died in 2015, was honored by dedicating in her memory the training room of the Center for Teacher Leadership in the VCU School of Education.
