Alice Robinson was nominated as an Outstanding Volunteer. She accumulated 1,194 hours after age 60, and she taught for 39 years. Ms. Robinson volunteers her time and talents with Chesterfield County Public Schools, where she helps struggling readers feel successful.

At Curtis Elementary, she tutored individual first graders reading below grade level and set up a checkout system for books in the reading room. Now at Harrowgate Elementary, she continues individual tutoring with first graders. She schedules her physical therapy sessions around her volunteering schedule so as not to disappoint the children. Mrs. Robinson was nominated by Taffy Jones-Hayes, Harrowgate Elementary School.
