Chesterfield – The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) will present a lecture on the historical uses of herbs at 10 a.m. at the County Museum Saturday, Sept. 10. Step back in time with Kathy Chain of The Herbs of Happy Hill, who will discuss the harvesting of herbs in colonial times, and some of their historical uses in the kitchen and for medicine and fragrance. After the presentation, attendees will make an herbal sachet to take home, and tour the Herb Demonstration garden at nearby Castlewood (weather permitting). While the event is free, donations are welcome. Tours of the 1892 Jail will be available after the event. Both the museum and jail are located on the Historic Courthouse Green along Route 10/Ironbridge Road in Chesterfield. Parking is available behind the museum at 6813 Mimms Loop. Castlewood is located at 10201 Iron Bridge Road.
