Dogpound door paint

Hello, and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. As I mentioned in my last article, I was laptopless…and after a brief stay at the repair center, the man there told me that it worked fine for him. He cleaned off some contacts and sent me home to see what would happen. Well, my laptop worked fine for an hour…then it crashed….then it ran for another hour and down it went again. Not a happy camper. I can use my mini iPad, but I am getting a stiff neck from looking down all the time…and typing anything more than 140 characters is for the birds. Peck..peck…peck…not my style of typing for sure. So back to the shop it will go Monday. In the meantime, I decided to paint my front door. I have one of those big doors with the extra side window, and there is a big oval glass window in the middle of the main door. My siding is what they call prairie yellow…I call it a soft yellow…and the door is a light brown color which is a fine combination.

However, the paint around the side window is starting to flake off showing the white fiberglass underneath, and I figured before it got cold I would make it my last major summer project. The style around my area is to paint the doors a bold color..very bright, and it really draws your eyes to the front porch. I am pretty conservative with the colors around my house but thought it might be nice to jazz up the porch a bit. I picked out a very nice cinnamon red color for the door…good contrast…but not too glaringly bright. I have one neighbor whose front door is almost a bright red…way too much color for me. Now, one of the problems in changing colors is that you have to be extra careful with the tape trim, since none of the old color can show through. I did a pretty good job with the taping, but I soon found out that this paint dried very fast, and if you were not quick, the paint would actually peel off with the tape. I painted the small side window one day since it was the easiest to do, and then I tackled the main door the next day. The main door presented two challenges…one…I had to start early enough in the day to allow the door to completely dry before I could shut it…and secondly, I had to take the locks off. Now it seems like a simple deal…and taking them off is…but I am here to tell you…putting them back on can be a real pain. I had a heck of a time trying to hold the parts in place while inserting the screw and somehow…blindly…find the matching hole on the other side. I swear I spent more time trying to put the two locks on that door than I spent painting both parts of the door. I kid you not!!

OLD AGE
An old couple was sitting at the kitchen table when the wife said to her husband in a wishful manner, “I remember when you used to kiss me all the time.” The husband bent over and gave her a peck on the cheek. She continued, “I remember when we used to hold hands all the time.” The old man placed his hand on top of hers. She continued, “I remember when you used to nibble on my neck.” The old man got up and shuffled out of the kitchen. “Where are you going?” She asked. “I’m going to go and get my teeth.” [Isn’t old age romance just …well…romantic?]

Well, I better close before another memory crash. As always, be good, do good, play safe, and remember that just because you are old, it does not mean that you have to stop showing your affection.
