Paint out pollution

Last month, volunteers spent the day working with Art on Wheels and the James River Association, stencil-painting storm drains. The Paint Out Pollution project aims to increase awareness of storm water pollution and celebrate the native plant and animal species that call the James River home. Local artists created stencils that were used to place art on storm drains at the Chester, LaPrade, Meadowdale, and North Courthouse Road libraries. There are a number of different designs between the four locations. The River Otter is located at the Chester Library’s storm drain on Centre Street.
