Construction of retail offices is underway in front of the Walmart at 12101 Branders Creek Drive along Route 10. River Forest Retail Phase III will include three offices, including Verizon, All Coverage Insurance and a vacant one. Verizon and All Coverage Insurance will be relocating from their current offices, which are located in the building south of the new construction. The owner of the property is Jack Mehta, owner of All Coverage Insurance.

After much discussion during its Oct. 24 meeting, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors postponed a decision on whether to approve a 40-year lease agreement with Richmond Executive Aviation. The pending agreement would bring a second fixed-base operator to the airport. Mark Hackett, chief executive officer of REA and a former JetBlue pilot, plans to offer flight training, aircraft tie-down parking and storage, maintenance, and sales of aircraft parts and fuel. Project director, Mike Laing of ECI Development Services of Richmond, and project architect, Scott Pryor, of DLR Group of Washington, D.C., spoke before the EDA board at its Oct. 18 meeting. The county plans to begin building the Chesterfield Center for the Arts next spring. That’s the word from Garrett Hart, Chesterfield County’s Economic Development director. Hart made the comments at the county’s Sept. 20 Economic Development Authority meeting. In other news, EDA treasurer and board member Harril Whitehurst said the organization plans to begin investing some $6.47 million of arts center funds with Wells Fargo Bank in the near future. Discount Tire Co. of Scottsdale, Ariz., is planning to build a 26-feet high, 7,680-square-foot building on 1.03 acres. The building would come with 34 parking spaces. The owner of the land is the John F. Alexander Exempt Trust. Last week, the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority unanimously approved a resolution of support for raising some $5.1 million for the Chesterfield Center for the Arts through a bond sale. EDA board chair John O’Neill said the Virginia Resources Authority wanted the EDA to approve the resolution by Sept. 21 so that bonds can be sold in mid-November. The county supervisors approved the $5.1 million allocation on June 27 by a 3-2 vote. The EDA previously issued $6.89 million in bonds and the county $2.67 million in bonds for the 22,000-square-foot arts center in Chester, which would include a 350-seat theater.…
Development plans for the following cases have been filed with Chesterfield County Planning Department, including a greenhouse, medical office, office/warehouse and fuel farm, the latter two at the Chesterfield County Airport. Ruffin Mill Farm LLC plans to build a 1,936-square-foot retail greenhouse and 600-square-foot office on 25.5 acres at 1741 Southcreek Drive north of Ruffin Mill Road east of Interstate 95. SOUTH CHESTERFIELD – Sabra Dipping Co. broke ground July 24 on an expansion of the world’s largest hummus-making facility. The 40,000-square-foot expansion of the 220,000-square-foot factory in the Ruffin Mill Industrial Park east of Interstate 95 will enable Sabra to further expedite product delivery to retail, which means getting freshly-made hummus into consumer hands and homes sooner. The new addition more than doubles Sabra’s finished goods storage capacity, lays the groundwork for future packaging customization capabilities and will result in an improved carbon footprint, a press release states.
