Stoney Glen Subdivision held their annual 4th of July celebration, and, as a part of the festivities, the neighborhood children jump rope to raise money for a charitable donation of their choice. This year they raised money for one of their own Stoney Glen mothers who is battling colon cancer. This is the sixth year they have done the jump-rope-a-thon, and approximately 29 kids participated.

Haley Ford held a Grand Re-Opening Event last weekend during normal business hours to celebrate the renovation and upgrades to their showroom, service department and customer service lounge at 10724 Jefferson Davis Highway. This event was complete with music, food, drinks, bouncy house fun for the kids, a classic car show, a wide variety of pre-owned vehicles and, of course, brand new Fords. The renovation to the Haley Ford store (located at its original location on Jefferson Davis Highway) took about 10 months. Sue Levy enthusiastically endorsed the Chester Farmer’s Market last week as she took a break from the hot sun in the Village Hall on the Village Green. “We come all the time,” Ms. Levy said. “It’s the only market I’ve seen. Even in Connecticut we didn’t have one.” Chester’s Market is in its sixth year. Motorcyclist Hit By Truck North Carolina State Troopers confirmed Sunday afternoon that a motorcyclist, 51-year-old Kenneth Jefferson of South Chesterfield, died from injuries he received after a tractor-trailer driver plowed into him and five others. The James River Association has installed 30 pet waste stations throughout City of Richmond parks, the James River Park System and Chesterfield County parks. Funded by a Department of Environmental Quality grant, the intent of this project is to make it convenient for pet owners to clean up after their dogs, thereby improving water quality in the James River. Pet waste contains high levels of bacteria, such as E. coli. When it rains, this bacteria is washed into local waterways and storm drains, ultimately making its way into the James River. The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV), in partnership with the Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation, presents a badge workshop for Boy Scouts in August. The Boy Scout American Heritage Badge Workshop will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 10 a.m. to noon at Historic Trinity Church, 10111 Iron Bridge Rd. This workshop fulfills merit badge requirements concerning history and cultural heritage. Cost is $10, and registration is through the CHSV website at www.chesterfieldhistory.com.
