This week, Crime Solvers revisits a 2013 shooting that stunned Chesterfield County. Shortly before 9 p.m. on July 4, 2013, 7-year-old Brendon Mackey was struck by a bullet just prior to the fireworks display at Sunday Park. Ballistics tests revealed the bullet that stole this young child’s life to be a .40 caliber class, full metal jacket. Chesterfield detectives continue to ask for the public’s help with information on this heartbreaking case. The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is asking for your help this week to solve a shooting case. On June 11, 2015 at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to West Road due to shots being fired in the area. While on scene, additional calls for service came in from the area of the Stevens Hollow and Rolling Wood apartment complexes, also referencing shots fired. Throughout the course of the investigation, police discovered a moving vehicle was struck by a bullet. The driver of the vehicle was grazed by that bullet, but, thankfully, not seriously injured. On the evening of Friday, March 13, a resident in the 5600 block of Handel Court threw a party that lasted into the early morning hours. As the party was winding down, a small group of males came to the party and caused problems for the rest of the party-goers. The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is asking for your help this week to solve a robbery On March 16, 2015, at approximately 9:45 p.m., a man entered the Dollar General at 14501 Spruce Ave. After briefly walking through the store, he approached the clerk, displayed a pistol and demanded money. The thief then fled the area on foot. Luckily, no one was injured during the robbery. The suspect was described to detectives as a black male standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds. Between Friday, April 17, and Monday, April 20, two homes were broken into in the Southcreek subdivision in southern Chesterfield County. One home was on Southcreek Drive and the other was on Majestic Creek Drive. Many electronic items, such as PlayStation and Xbox gaming systems, jewelry, gift cards and cash were taken from the homes. The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program is asking for your help this week to solve a cold case homicide. Just before 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014, officers responded to the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard for a report of multiple shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male shooting victims. One of the men, David Emmanuel-Sinclair Copeland, 23, of the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard, died at the scene. The second victim was transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Copeland led the Chesterfield Community High School basketball team for four years and holds…
